GRABBY

Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 15, 2026

GRABBY is a browser-based developer tool for inspecting and rearranging user interface components on pages the user opens in Chrome.

Data handled by the extension

To provide its user-facing features, GRABBY processes website content locally in the browser tab, including:

GRABBY does not read or store passwords, authentication cookies, payment data, or browser history.

How data is used

Website content is used only to display inspection controls, component outlines, the Layers panel, responsive preview, and user-directed runtime layout changes.

GRABBY may contact the current page's own development server to resolve source-file metadata when that capability is provided by the framework. This communication stays between the browser and the website or development server selected by the user.

Collection, storage, and sharing

Permissions and site access

GRABBY requests temporary activeTab access only after the user clicks its extension icon. It then injects locally bundled scripts into that tab so its toolbar can inspect and manipulate the page selected by the user. The webNavigation permission is used only to detect and enable GRABBY inside the responsive preview frame created in that same tab.

The extension does not run on Chrome internal pages such as chrome://extensions.

Remote code

All executable code is bundled with the extension. GRABBY does not download or execute remote JavaScript or WebAssembly.

Data retention and deletion

GRABBY does not maintain a user database. Runtime inspection state exists only in the active page and is removed when the page is refreshed or closed. Users can remove all extension code and settings by uninstalling GRABBY from Chrome.

Limited Use

GRABBY's use of information received from Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data access is limited to providing and improving the extension's user-facing UI inspection and layout features.

Third-party code

GRABBY bundles React Grab under the MIT License. No remote code is loaded at runtime.
